Animals have as much rights as humans on
earth!
India is home to
a tremendously diverse population of animals, many of which are endangered or
threatened species. Hunting, habitat destruction and ecosystem instability that
the biggest icon of India's many animals are also at risk of extinction.
According Indianetzone, 410 mammal species are threatened in India - the amount
that represents about 9 percent of all mammals in the world.
Animals in Danger
"Our
ancestors viewed the Earth as rich and bountiful, which it is. Many
people in the past also saw nature as inexhaustibly sustainable, which
we now know is the case only if we care for it. It is not difficult to
forgive destruction in the past which resulted from ignorance. Today,
however, we have access to more information, and it is essential that we
re-examine ethically what we have inherited, what we are responsible
for, and what we will pass on to coming generations. Our marvels of
science and technology are matched if not outweighed by many current
tragedies, including human starvation in some parts of the world, and
the extinction of other life-forms. The exploration of space takes place
at the same time as the Earth's own oceans, seas, and fresh water areas
grow increasingly polluted. Many
of the Earth's habitats, animals, plants, insects, and even
micro-organisms that we know as rare may not be known at all by future
generations. We have the capability, and the responsibility. We must act
before it is too late."
MAJESTIC
Bengal tigers, wild dogs, sarus cranes, ancient turtles, and Asian
elephants—these are just some of India’s animal species in danger of
extinction. Consider the largest land mammal, the elephant.
The
future for India’s endangered creatures does not appear bright. The
evidence is overwhelming that humans have been selfishly ruining the
earth, which has included the destruction of much of its magnificent
wildlife.
Endangered Species in
India
Endangered Species in India includes birds, mammals and reptiles
that are in desperate need of conservation, protection and mass awareness.
Endangered species in India comprise large varieties of rare
species of wild animals, aquatic animals and insects. Indian wildlife consists
of numerous species of birds, mammals, reptiles etc, and is well known for
comprising one of the richest varieties in the world. The Indian wildlife also
contains several endangered species that are living critically on the verge of
extinction. An endangered species is defined as a population of a living being
that is at the danger of becoming extinct because of several reasons. Either
they are few in number or are threatened by the varying environmental or
predation parameters. The endangered species in India have been identified by
different national and international organisations like the World Wildlife Fund
(WWF), International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources
(IUCN) and the Wildlife Institute of India (WII).
